Muscle Milk is a health and fitness product that was recalled in 2021 due to a possible contaminated powdered beverage. The ingredient list included Mycelex, a prescription muscle relaxer that has been linked to death. Muscle Milk has been removed from the shelves of most stores and is no longer accepting questions regarding the recalled products and the ingredients contained within them. However, some stores continue to sell the product as is, stating that they do not contain any contaminated products.
Muscle Milk Lawsuit
The lawsuit filed by attorneys general in the state of California and the US Food and Drug Administration on behalf of consumers who purchased the product states that the recalled muscle milk contains Mycelex and can cause serious side effects.
Specifically, it contains Epimedium, which is a prescription muscle relaxer. This ingredient has been linked to death, particularly in elderly individuals. The complaint further states that the ingredients in the product also include ephedra, which has been determined to be an unsafe drug by the FDA.
The ingredients in the products have been determined to be dangerous or potentially dangerous to individuals with certain ailments or other similar conditions.
Some of the conditions that it may potentially affect include diabetes, heart problems, hypertension, and high blood pressure. Muscle Milk may also interfere with or reduce the effectiveness of certain medications and can contribute to or worsen preexisting conditions. Some of the products contain ephedrine. Ephedrine is a controlled substance and can be considered dangerous for individuals with existing heart conditions or those who have high blood pressure or diabetes.
Another common ingredient in the Muscle Milk products is ephedrine.
The product labels indicate that it is intended to be mixed with water to make a powder. It has been determined that while it may look like the substance Ephedra, it is actually a fake. It is often times sold in powdered form and mixed with juice or other beverages. Some individuals have found it to be highly addicting and may continue to use it even when they are not physically feeling well.
Muscle Milk has also been linked to sexual health problems in some individuals.
It contains stimulants, which may contribute to erectile dysfunction in men, as well as impotence in some men. In addition, it can cause headaches and nausea in some people. Many of these symptoms happen shortly after consuming the product, but continue for days afterward.
The Nutrition and Drug Administration have determined that the ingredients in the Muscle Milk products are unfit for human consumption.
